There are times when you just want to share with the world the photos that you have taken. Posting your photos to Flickr is one option, but why not create a video and post them on youtube? What are the softwares options you have? For starters, I would recommend MemoriesOnTv, costs USD $ 89.90 for PRO version.

Not wanting to pay for it? Then check out MemoriesOnWeb, its a free program which you can compile all your favorites photos and music and post them directly to youtube.

I've used both programs before, the difference I see is that one allows you to burn directly to your disc while the other one lets you post directly to the web. I would say there are not much different in both programs. But converting your photos using MemoriesOnWeb, your photos will not look as sharp as using MemoriesOnTv.

Photos Editing Software

I take a lot of photos and since I'm an amateur, having some photo editing softwares is necessary. Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, ACDsee, Paint.net just to name a few. But after reading some reviews on Adobe's Photoshop Elements, I'm pretty amazed at the user interface. Simple and straight forward. Fits me, as it is not as complicated like the rest of the programs. Even a kid can use it without much problem.

I would highly recommend it to everyone who likes to take photos but hates editing them with the normal softwares. Photoshop Elements is for you.

You can download a trial version from Adobe's site at www.adobe.com. Price is tagged at USD $ 111.00 for a full version.

Lack of Posts

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I do not have much subjects to shot at lately. I'll be visiting places of nature around KL this weekend. So expect some nature shots with the N95.

Extended Zoom with N95

Extended Zoom in N95 is a handy feature but not necessary for all users. Here I'm posting 3 shots taken with automatic settings and zoomed at different levels. The first photo is showing how far am I standing from the target. Note: The target of these set of photos are 2 workers on top of the building

Notes on Resizing

The N95 has a small editing program which can help you to resize your photos on your phone.

It can be smaller in size compared to using the Faststone Image Resizer. I did an experiment using both and the N95 gave me a smaller size compared to the one from FastStone. Both images are the same and resized to 800x600 dpi.

I would say I prefer the second picture more.

Zooming with N95

Zoom is one of the most essential feature to have in a camera. Digicams nowadays comes with 3 time optical zoom as a standard. While some mobilephones makers are slowing introducing optical zoom lens into their products, most of the MPCs out there still comes with only digital zoom. Which I find it somehow useful.

To me, I would prefer optical zoom then digital zoom as digital zoom stretches your photos instead of magnifying your photos.

Today, I'm gonna show you photos taken with the N95, in automated settings and zoom at 3 different levels.Conclusions, the digital zoom featured in N95 is not bad. In fact very good to certain extend. Although having optical zoom will be better. As you can see, the photos shown here are taken from the third story building, the quality is still acceptable.

Night Mode vs Auto Mode vs Pan Focus

These 3 photos are taken with different settings with a N95.

The first one is taken with auto settings. LED flash were set to on.

The second is taken with night mode settings. Flash not on, but have to keep the hands real still.

The third is taken with Pan Focus mode with flash on.

As you can see, picture taken with Pan Focus mode, also known as sports mode, is the worst of the three. The one taken with auto settings is still acceptable. But the best is the one taken with night mode.

Grid in Viewfinder

A grid is something like a #, this feature is available in almost every digicams nowadays. Some professional photographers might call it rules of 1/3. To the hell with those tech terms, I'm just a normal user.

So how do you use a grid? The picture below will show you much info. This is from the N95 camera.Try focusing your objects at the circled points next time, you might get unexpected results. Unless you want your objects to be always at the center of your photographs.

P/S: I know the circles are uneven, please bear with it.

Some might have wondered? How does the mega pixels affect the size of the photos? Well, I'm gonna to share what I've found out sometime back on this topic.

Its good to have a copy of the above information.

And a word of advice, in order for you to save space while uploading photos onto your website, its best you can convert your pictures to 800x600. Photos of this size will be less then 100KB, thus faster uploading and displaying on your website.

Check out these 2 softwares, VSO Image Resizer and FastStone Photo Resizer. Both are free softwares, plus the size is quite small, you can install it to your USB drive with no problems.

Introduction to Nokia N95

I know this is a useless post of introducing the camera of N95. Most of you would probably be have already read it in some other sites. So shut up, let me write my own things and if you don't like it, the power switch is always on the CPU box, you can press it anytime.

From the looks of it, it seems like N95 is one of the best MPC out there to compete with some of the Digicams.

MPC Vs Digicam

This blog is created to document my user's experience in taking better photos with camera phones.
There has always a myth that mobile phones' cameras(MPC) are not able to take good photos like conventional digital cameras(Digicam). Nowadays, more and more users are equipped with at least a mobile phone with camera capabilities. Meaning more and more people will be trigger happy, conveniently taking photos with their mobile phones rather then taking it with a digicam. But I'm not those who will be carrying a digicam with me everyday. I believed that most users thinks the same like me.

I'm not those rich people and companies which can afford every new mobile phones which are available in the market. I'll be taking most photos with a Nokia N95 unless stated.

So lets journey together in getting the perfect shots with your MPC.
